Tesla Model Y has shown strength as production ramps up at Giga Berlin. The compact SUV became the best-selling car in Germany in September 2022, dethroning Volkswagen from the top spot.
In September 2022, there was a change in the overall list of best-selling models and the reason for this was Tesla. The manufacturer's cars have become leaders in their segment and, of course, in the segment of electric vehicles. However, these are not all of Tesla's achievements in Germany. Tesla Model Y became the country’s absolute sales leader in September, surpassing the nearest competitor by a huge margin.
According to KBA data, Tesla registered a staggering 9,846 Model Ys in just one month in Germany. This result was made possible by the high rate of production ramp-up at Giga Berlin. On October 1, the factory announced that it had reached a production capacity of 2,000 vehicles a week. This result made Model Y the unattainable leader of the German car market and brought it even closer to achieving the goal of becoming the best-selling car in the world.
In second place is Volkswagen Golf with 7,095 units, 2,750 units less than Model Y, which is telling. In third place is Volkswagen Tiguan with 5,887 sales. Fiat 500 came in fourth with 4,517 units. Just behind it, in fifth place is Opel Corsa with 4,139 units sold. Tesla Model 3 also made the top 10 in sixth place with 3,878 sales.

Tesla shows strong growth in Germany. After the manufacturer has expanded its production capabilities, delivering cars to customers is faster than before, which means that every month the number of satisfied owners is growing. The presence of its factory in the country also has a positive effect on the acceptance of Tesla cars and the growth of love for the manufacturer.
