In March, Tesla sold 88,869 units of its electric vehicles (EVs) manufactured at Giga Shanghai. This reflects an increase of 35% compared to the same period last year and 19.4% compared to February.

Tesla continues to grow and its Giga Shanghai delivered 88,869 Model Y and Model 3, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). This includes both domestic sales and exports. The exact number of vehicles delivered in China and abroad is still unknown, though this information should become available in a few days.

The delivery of 88,869 vehicles reflects a 35% increase compared to Q1 2022. This is also up 19.4% from February when Tesla delivered 74,402 Chinese-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. The strong sales results also show that Giga Shanghai is constantly ramping up production.

Tesla has been able to capture the interest of consumers despite the fact that China as a whole continues to see a decline in demand for cars. The manufacturer significantly lowered the prices of its cars in January 2023, making them more affordable, which has attracted those consumers who were previously too expensive to buy Tesla cars.

Tesla reported record quarterly vehicle deliveries between January and March worldwide of 422,875 units. This turned out to be slightly higher than analysts' expectations of around 421,000 vehicles. This is also a new quarterly delivery record for the company.
