The Tesla NACS connector will be added to ABB E-mobility charging products. The expansion further bolsters Tesla's achievements in accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy after the manufacturer partnered with Ford and GM.

Tesla announced Friday that major Italian provider ABB E-mobility is adding the North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector as an option to its products. ABB E-mobility has been in the EV field for over 13 years providing quality EV charging solutions. Open standards and interoperability are fundamental elements of a robust and scalable e-mobility economy, the company said.

ABB E-mobility claims to be the global leader in electric vehicle charging solutions with the highest uptime and largest installed base of DC fast chargers on the market. Its vertically integrated offering includes the broadest portfolio of DC and AC charging equipment, a range of digital services, and advanced power and fleet management solutions. The company has sold over 1 million electric vehicle chargers in over 85 markets, over 50,000 DC fast chargers, and over 1 million AC chargers. Being such a major provider, the collaboration with Tesla is a very important milestone.

This news became an even bigger booster for recent news. On Wednesday, GM announced it is adopting the NACS connector for its vehicles. The company will begin production of electric vehicles with the new connector from 2025, however, as early as 2024, all of its electric vehicles will have access to Tesla's extensive charging network. A little earlier, Ford announced a similar collaboration with Tesla.
