Tim Cook Owns Bitcoin & Ethereum, Apple Looking at Crypto But No Immediate Plans

Apple CEO Tim Cook said he personally owns cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin and Ether. He confirmed that he has been interested in digital money for some time and researched the topic.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said he personally owns the cryptocurrency during the DealBook conference when asked if he owns Bitcoin or Ethereum, CNBC reported. “I do. I think it’s reasonable to own it as part of a diversified portfolio,” Cook told Andrew Ross Sorkin in a recorded interview. "I’m not giving anyone investment advice by the way."

Cook said he was interested in cryptocurrencies from a "personal point of view" and not in light of the fact that Apple might start using cryptocurrencies in exchange for its products. In addition, he rejected the possibility of their purchase by the company with corporate funds as an investment. “I wouldn’t go invest in crypto, not because I wouldn’t invest my own money, but because I don’t think people buy Apple stock to get exposure to crypto,” Cook said. Apple currently does not have cryptocurrency-related products or services.

Cook said on Tuesday that while Apple was looking at cryptocurrency technology, it’s “not something we have immediate plans to do.”
