New Major Tesla Supercharger Station Is Coming to Santa Monica, Possibly with a 50's Diner
Tesla CEO Elon Musk's long-standing idea of a Supercharger station with a 50's diner could become a reality. Tesla's filing for the new Supercharger station in Santa Monica, as well as Musk's recent tweet, may hint at this.

On April 2, Musk via his Twitter account wrote that a major new Tesla Supercharger station is coming to Santa Monica. He also expressed the hope that it will be possible to have a 50's diner in which 100 best movie clips will be played, which could improve the waiting time for charging and become great entertainment. In addition, Musk wrote that he is grateful to Santa Monica city, which may hint at some progress in the implementation of this plan.

In January 2018, Musk came up with the idea for an old-school drive-in, roller skates and rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in Los Angeles. He was really inspired by this idea, which could be felt by reading his tweets.

Shortly thereafter, a new application appeared on the Santa Monica City website specifically for the "Tesla restaurant and supercharger station.” However, after that, until 2021, there was no further news of progress in obtaining permits for the Supercharger station nor for a diner there.

In early March 2021, it became known that Tesla indeed plans to launch the world's largest Supercharger V3 station in Santa Monica, California. Documents filed with the Santa Monica Planning Commission indicated that the station will include 62 V3 stalls. The new V3 station is planned at 1401 and 1421 Santa Monica Boulevard. Although this approval met with some challenges, in the end, it seems to be mowing forward. Musk's new tweet indicates that the new Supercharger station is "coming to Santa Monica soon," which can mean he has some confidence that the location is secured.

Supercharger stations will provide a consistent customer base from 15 minutes to 1 hour. During this time, Tesla owners will need to kill some time, so food and movies in a stylish atmosphere are a great way to do this.
