Tesla unveiled the refreshed Model S and Model X in early 2021. Since then, several people have been fortunate enough to see them in the real world, and some even sit inside. However, the cars were never presented at Auto shows and were not shown to the general public in their final form. This seems to be changing soon as the entire S3XY lineup is due to be presented at the China International Consumer Products Expo.
Since the release of the General Plan for the Establishment of Hainan Free Trade Port in June 2020, both the Chinese central government and the Hainan provincial government have been making significant efforts to increase the awareness of opportunities offered by Hainan to foreign investors and businesses. The China International Consumer Products Expo, which will be held in Hainan from May 7 to May 10, will become a key driver of the overall development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Tesla's presence at the show will strengthen its ties to the bustling Chinese island after it signed a contract for projects to develop the Hainan Free Trade Port last October. At the beginning of the year, the first Tesla service center in Hainan opened in Haikou. Tesla Global Vice President Tao Ling said that the company is “highly supportive of and optimistic” about the Expo, and sees it as a key supporting element for the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Tesla China today, through its Weibo account, announced that the company will be exhibiting the entire S3XY line at the China International Consumer Products Expo. While no other details have been provided regarding the models that will be shown, Tesla is expected to present the refreshed Model S and X, as it makes no sense to showcase older vehicles that have already been discontinued. Thus, this will be the first official presentation of the refreshed models, which can be viewed by thousands of visitors.
