Tesla Attends the 4th China International Import Expo, Presents Giga Shanghai Technologies

Tesla is exhibiting at the 4th China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2021, highlighting the achievements of Giga Shanghai in various fields. For the first time, the company has revealed many exclusive details about the technologies it uses in manufacturing, green working practices at the factory, and the operation of the new data center.

CIIE opened on November 5 and will welcome visitors through November 10 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), Shanghai, China. It is a major trade and diversified exhibition that is housing an integrated exhibition area for state trade and investment and an exhibition area for enterprises and businesses.

Tesla is revealing to the audience some of its exclusive secrets in the production of electric vehicles, and meanwhile showcasing the latest achievements in the production process with localization in China. At CIIE, the company is also showcasing its superior manufacturing concepts and cutting-edge technology.

Tesla is for the first time presenting a body in white, casting parts, batteries, motors, and other car parts. All exhibits are accompanied by videos from the workshops, which demonstrate the intricacies of production. In particular, a comprehensive analysis of engines, production processes in the battery workshop, casting, stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly are to be carried out, which allows everyone to see the production logic behind Tesla cars.

In addition, Giga Shanghai achieved 92% recycling of metal battery raw materials and 96% recycling of industrial waste. The introduction of “green” attributes in terms of circular energy, energy savings, and emission reductions were highly praised in the sector. During CIIE, Tesla us also detailing its factory's environmental protection measures in the areas of logistics and transportation, battery recycling, solid waste disposal, water treatment plants, and more, which should give more factories valuable experience and technology exchange for the implementation of "green" improvements.

In addition, for the first time, Tesla is showcasing comprehensive and systematic advances in localization: the charging network layout required for car owners and Tesla stores that provide consultation, test drive, delivery, and service to consumers.

The Giga Shanghai data center is also on display. The data center is used to store operational data received in China and is an important measure for Tesla to comply with Chinese regulations and ensure the safety of vehicles and data.
