Tesla celebrates the installation of its 500,000th Powerwall. Over the past two years, the company has installed an average of 12,000 units every month. In honor of the celebration, Tesla is offering a $500 rebate on all Powerwall units installed and registered before October 31, 2023.

Tesla has installed its 500,000th Powerwall, the company's home battery storage product. The milestone was reached eight years after the initial debut of the product and just six years after the start of mass production. The company started with a limited production of 500 units at the Fremont factory in 2015. Mass production was only started in 2017 at Giga Nevada.

In April 2020, Tesla announced the installation of the 100,000th Powerwall. This was the first serious milestone, after which the increase in production went at a faster pace. However, the company still could not keep up with the volume of orders coming for Powerwall. It turned out to be a hugely popular product. In May 2021, Tesla reached the milestone of 200,000 home storage battery installations.

The data show that Tesla has significantly accelerated the production and installation of Powerwall. An additional 300,000 units have been installed in the last 25 months. This means that on average, Tesla installed about 12,000 Powerwalls per month, or about 400 units daily.

In honor of reaching this milestone, Tesla is offering a rebate on all Powerwall units. As described, customers who install and register their Powerwall(s) between June 15, 2023 and October 31, 2023 will receive a $500 rebate for each Powerwall. Since the product is highly desirable, the reduced price may attract even more customers. Currently, Tesla offers two options for home batteries: Powerwall and Powerwall +.
