Tesla Giga Berlin is hosting experts for the final assessment of environmental compliance. Compliance with all requirements could be checked only after production was fully put into operation.
On Monday, Tesla Giga Berlin began receiving representatives from the Brandenburg authorities, who check whether state requirements were observed during construction and operation. The factory received a production permit in March 2022, but some requirements could not be met until the full launch of all factory workshops.
Once all workshops began work, it became possible to carry out a comprehensive check to make sure that the work of Giga Berlin meets all established requirements. The so-called initial audit began on May 9 and will last until May 20. This check will help clarify if everything is in order with the factory after the plant is put into operation.
If all the conditions set at the time of approval are, for some reason, not met or not fully met, the respective authority can then set additional deadlines. A ban on operations can only be considered in the event of imminent danger. At the moment, all requirements for safe operation without immediate danger to the public and the environment at and around Giga Berlin have been met.
