Tesla Giga Berlin plans to increase production by 200% to 3,000 vehicles per week starting October 2022. By the end of the year, the factory's production capacity could reach 5,000 units per week.

Giga Berlin has returned to full capacity after being closed for upgrades in July. During this time, the production capacity of the factory has been expanded, and work has been established to produce Model Y with new technologies. A production line was prepared for the production of cars with a structural battery pack and 4680 battery cells. In addition, the Paint Shop tested paintwork in new colors that are supposed to appear with the Model Y with a structural battery pack.

Prior to the upgrade, Giga Berlin reached a production capacity of 1,000 units per week, the first significant milestone. Now, after appropriate changes, the production capacity of the German factory has increased. Local blog Teslamag.de, citing a source familiar with the matter, reported that Giga Berlin is now aiming to increase its production capacity to 1,500 Model Ys per week, which is only an immediate, interim target.

In parallel with this, the recruitment of new employees continues, which should ensure the further growth of the production capacity of Giga Berlin. According to the plan, by October, the production volume should increase by 200% compared to the current 1,000 Model Ys. Thus, Tesla expects to be able to produce 3,000 cars per week, and reach a production capacity of 12,000 units per month.

Also, according to Elon Musk during the Q2 2022 Earnings Call, Giga Berlin, like Giga Texas, will almost certainly be able to produce 5,000 Model Ys a week by the end of this year, or early 2023. This will mean that the factory will reach a production capacity of around 260,000 vehicles a year. In addition, he mentioned that the company aims to produce 10,000 vehicles per week by the end of 2023, which equates to 520,000 vehicles per year.

“And so that's why I am confident we will get to 5,000 cars a week at – in Austin and Berlin by the end of this year or early next year and probably but not certainly, 10,000 cars a week at both locations by the end of next year.”
