Tesla has opened recruitment for two positions at Giga Nevada related to the production of Tesla Semi. This confirms recent rumors that the company will produce several Semis in Nevada for a series of tests, and also indicates that the company is actively preparing to begin production of the trucks.

Next year, production of the highly anticipated Semi will begin, the appearance of which would be a disruption for truck makers and the railroad industry. Tesla's electric truck is a great alternative to diesel-powered trucks and even trains. In addition to environmental advantages, such electric trucks have a large advantage in the cost of ownership.

Tesla recently opened recruitment for two positions in Giga Nevada, both related to Semi production: Process Engineer and Process Technician. The job descriptions indicate:

"A Process Engineer will implement, develop, and optimize production methodologies in the manufacturing operations of Tesla. This engineer will be responsible for optimizing product flow though the factory though process optimization that may include tool/fixture selection, line layouts, ergonomic study, material presentation, and other relevant factors. This person will interface with design, test, and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and implement continual improvement."

"The Process Engineering Technician performs process sustaining tasks for the manufacturing line on a variety of mechanical and chemical processes including response to out-of-control process, work on yield improvement projects, disposition of special case non-conforming materials that come from the manufacturing line , qualifying new equipment and processes that are being introduced into the manufacturing line."

A few days ago, information was leaked that Tesla is building 4 new Semis at a factory in Nevada. @carsonight/Twitter reported that they will be manufactured using a new battery cell technology other than 2170 and 4680. It is reported that new cells with a higher density--called 2170L--will be used for the builds.

In addition, the source gave some details about the tests of the new Semi. He says two of them will undergo road tests. Another will be tested in cold weather conditions in Alaska. The fourth will undergo durability tests.

Now, the opening of new positions at Giga Nevada confirms that this rumor, at least in part, may be true. The hiring of engineers who will specialize in the production of the Semi indicates that Tesla is going to create at least a small production line there.

During the Q2 2020 Earnings Call, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Semi, like Cybertruck and Model Y, will be manufactured in Giga Texas, so building a full production line for Semi in Nevada seems unlikely. Nevertheless, given the fact that the plans of the company may change at any time, it should not be totally ruled out.
