Tesla has begun hiring more staff to expand its legal and PR team in China. These actions are aimed at raising consumer awareness and combating false statements against the company.
Tesla is hiring managers for its legal and external relations teams in China, as reported on its Wechat account. In recent months, the good name of the manufacturer has been overshadowed with false statements by some bloggers and media outlets who have sought to increase traffic to their sites using the big name of the manufacturer. Some of them have already made public apologies for their actions after being contacted by Tesla's legal team.
Based on vacancies opened by the company in China, Tesla is hiring external relations managers in several Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Nanjing. Some positions will handle government relations. A rumor that the company was stepping up its engagement with mainland Chinese regulators and strengthening its government relations team emerged in late spring.
In addition, Tesla is looking for lawyers who specialize in construction, anti-monopoly and data privacy protection areas, while also looking for public relations managers in Shanghai, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Xi'an, and Shenyang. Such actions are justified by the specific circumstances faced by the company in China.
