The glass roof of a Tesla Model 3 saved its driver's life from a huge tree falling on the car. The solid construction of the entire car protected Tesla's customer, allowing him to go uninjured.

Tesla cars are constantly saving lives, and Model 3 has once again proved its high level of safety. @JayinShanghai/Twitter shared a video from the scene. The video shows a large tree lying directly on the roof of the Model 3, which is a terrible feeling. It fell on the car right during its movement, completely pressing the car to the road with its huge weight. In the description of the video, there is a caption that the driver left uninjured, and it is clear that he did it through his door, which was still able to open.

All Tesla vehicles are designed with safety as the top priority. Thanks to this, all cars of the company top all kinds of safety ratings, reaching the highest marks in their groups. One of the important factors in Tesla's stellar safety rating is the roof of the car. Despite being made of glass, it is much more durable than the roofs of other cars traditionally made of metal.

While the metal panel that forms the roof of a legacy car is usually the thinnest and least rigid sheet metal on a vehicle and provides little protection in the event of damage through the roof; meanwhile, roofs of Tesla cars are made of a double layer of tempered glass laminated with a thermoplastic. It is much stiffer than any thin sheet metal roof. To gauge the real strength of a Model 3, just keep in mind that it can support the weight of two full-grown African elephants. Although the glass can shatter during a hard impact, the plastic holds all the pieces together, preventing them from shattering into the cabin. In addition, the rigid structure did not bend under the weight of the fallen tree, saving the life of the driver.
