Tesla Model Y became the sixth best-selling car in the US in 2022, overthrowing the gasoline dinosaurs in its wake. The car rose up 11 positions compared to last year. Tesla Model 3 is in 13th place, up six slots from 2021.

Tesla Model Y became the sixth best-selling car in America in 2022, which is a new, amazing achievement for the manufacturer. Motor Intelligence data showed that 252,000 Model Ys were registered in the 12 months of last year, up 32.4% from a year earlier. In 2021, the compact SUV was the 17th best-selling vehicle in the US. Such rapid growth, and a move up of 11 positions in just one year, is a solid result, showing the power of Model Y to capture the automotive market.

The compact SUV meets the many requirements of today's consumers. This is a beautiful, roomy, high-performance, comfortable, luxurious, high-tech electric vehicle that captures the love of consumers very quickly. For now, the only limiting factor to greater Model Y growth is the production capacity of American factories. However, once Giga Texas is able to ramp up production, sales of the compact SUV will easily skyrocket in the US.

For now, pickup trucks continue to dominate the country's market. The best-selling car in the US in 2022 was Ford F-Series with 653,957 units. However, its sales continue to decline, registering a fall of 9.9% compared to 2021. In second place is Chevrolet Silverado with 513,354 sales, down 1.2% YoY. In third place is Ram pickup with 468,344, down 17.7% YoY. Fourth place was taken by Toyota RAV4 with 399,941, down 1.9% YoY. In fifth place is Toyota Camry with 295,201 units, down 5.9% YoY. Tesla Model Y is the only car in the top 10 that has registered sales growth compared to 2021, which is also a strong signal of its superiority. In addition, it is the only electric vehicle in the top 10.

Tesla Model 3 also showed a good result in 2022. In the 12 months of last year, 211,641 units were sold in the US, placing it in 13th place overall. This is a 6-position uplift and a 40% increase from 2021 when the car was ranked 19th.
