Tesla to Update UI with New 'mind of car' View Along with FSD Wide Release

Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta, unveiled by Tesla last year, continues to improve, offering users an even wider range of options and will eventually lead to Level 5 autonomy. In addition to expanding capabilities, version 9.0, like other cars from the company with HW3, will have improved visualization, which should give drivers more peace of mind and confidence.

Along with a huge step forward in achieving full driving autonomy, Tesla vehicles with HW3 will have significantly improved visualization, the CEO of the company Elon Musk previously explained. At the moment, the objects surrounding the car are shown in the form of parallelepipeds, cubes, and points. Thus, drivers have the impression that they are in developer mode, which can both add positive emotions and influence drivers by causing increased anxiety. Of course, Tesla has no plans to leave the visualization as it is, so the company is constantly working to improve it and will be ready to present it in the near future.

Musk gave a progress update on the matter and wrote that updated UI is coming with FSD wide release. He wrote that all cars with an FSD computer (HW3) will receive a new 'mind of car' view.

In early May, the head of the company confirmed that the 'mind of car' view refers to a smoother rendering that will appear in the car's display. Instead of the previous representation of uncertainty, drivers will be able to see visualizations of probability distributions, he wrote.

Probability distributions are theoretical distributions based on assumptions about a source population. The distributions assign a probability to the event that a random variable has a specific, discrete value, or falls within a specified range of continuous values. Probability distribution objects allow to fit a probability distribution to sample data, or define a distribution by specifying parameter values. Thus, we are talking about the fact that the visualization in the new version of FSD Beta will be smoother and more familiar, and at the same time, it will not contain unnecessary information that is not needed by Tesla drivers.
