Tesla Model Y became the best-selling electric vehicle in the Netherlands in February. In addition, the car entered the top 5 best-selling cars, competing with gasoline cars.

Car sales data for February 2023 showed that there are some changes in the market, as the German brands traditionally dominating here have lost their leading positions. Sales data separately by models is also quite interesting. Especially popular in February was the Chinese inexpensive SUV Lynk & Co 01, which became the best-selling vehicle with 1,098 sales. In second place is Opel Corsa with 887 registered units. Third place went to Volvo XC40 with 749 sales. In fourth place is Ford Focus with 687 units. Tesla Model Y closes out the top 5 best-selling cars in the Netherlands in February with 653 sales.

It is rather unusual for Tesla to have such competitively strong sales results in February. Although sales are traditionally stronger this month compared to the first month of each quarter, they are still not as strong as they are in the third month of each quarter. However, in 2023 the situation has changed. Previously, the deliveries of Model Y to Europe directly depended only on Tesla's Chinese factory. Giga Shanghai produced cars for export in January and they reached the shores of European countries only in February. Accordingly, sales could not be very high. However, last spring Tesla launched its German factory. Giga Berlin has been able to ramp up production in 2022 and is now making a significant contribution to the production of Model Y delivery to the European market. According to recent data, Giga Berlin produces 4,000 vehicles every week, which means that about 16,000 vehicles are produced per month, most of which are delivered in Europe.

In addition to being the fifth best-selling car in February, Model Y also became the best-selling electric car in the country. It is followed by Volvo XC40 Recharge with 520 sales. In third place is Renault Megane with 386 registered units. In fourth place is Skoda Enyaq with 365 sales. Closing out the top 5 is Peugeot E-208 with 319 units.
