Tesla produces a wide range of hardware and distributed energy resources (DER) from EVs and battery packs (including energy storage systems) to solar roofs. Becoming a utility is the next step to derive value from this hardware and Autobidder is a key component. According to Tesla's lead Energy Optimization and Product Economics Rohan Ma, with the launch of the company's energy storage facility in Texas, the company's Autobidder will be operating over 1.2 GWh in 2021.

Autobidder is Tesla's transactive energy platform that uses machine learning, predictive analytics, and automated interactions with market operators and regulators to generate revenue from energy services with minimal overhead. The combination of DER and automated platforms provides benefits for asset owners and at the market level.

Batteries are highly flexible assets and require smart strategies and software like Autobidder to fully realize them. This software allows owners to realize the full value of batteries. That is why this product is becoming more and more popular.

At the moment, Tesla is building a large battery to connect Texas to the grid. Once the project is completed, which is expected in the summer of 2021, Autobidder will operate over 1.2 GWh, said Tesla's lead Energy Optimization and Product Economics Rohan Ma. This is an excellent indicator and a great achievement for a product that was introduced just about one year ago.
